• Is your check engine light on? Get it fixed today. A check engine light means your vehicle on-board computer has detected a fault, which may result in an increase in fuel use.
• Keep your engine properly tuned. Insuring your engine is properly maintained can improve gas mileage by an average of 4 percent. Fixing a serious maintenance problem, such as a faulty oxygen sensor, can improve your fuel mileage by as much as 40 percent.
