We will show the complexity in performing some of these services, having to need certain tools and expertise, which will lead to the realization that most people won’t be able to perform these services and will still need to bring their car to a professional for most services and repairs.     At Osceola Garage we have always fostered the term the “good guys”, looking out for the best interest of our customers and consumers.

In addition; we will sell service items and additives at discounted prices for those who want to perform certain services themselves. And, just for attending the workshop everyone will receive a special discount card for any future preventive maintenance service, a free car care booklet, a tire pressure gauge, plus other discount offerings.

We at Osceola Garage understand that as a business we have a responsibility to our community and to the planet. Being green conscience is not new for us, we have doing our part for years. Here are some of the things Osceola Garage is doing to help to protect our environment:

• Fluid recycling: All fluids removed from your vehicle are recycled: Engine oil,     antifreeze, brake fluid, power steering fluid, transmission fluid and differential fluid.

• Used Oil for Heat: Osceola Garage has invested in a used oil heater to help heat our facility. Burning used oil for heat reduces the demand on needing to purchase heating oil.

• Batteries: When a new battery is installed in your car, the old battery is returned to the factory where it is processed and all the elements of the battery are recycled.

• Tires: All worn tires are recycled

•Scrap metal: Your vehicle is assembled using many different types of metals: steel, cooper, aluminum, brass, etc. All metals are separated and recycled.

• Part Recycling and Remanufacturing: Many vehicle parts are removed and sent back to the factory to be remanufacturer and used again. This saves you money on future part’s purchase and also helps saves the planet.

• Parts Cleaning Solvents:  All solvents and chemicals used to clean your engine and other components are environmentally friendly and recycled.

• Promoting Vehicle Maintenance: Our maintenance programs not only save you money, but help keep the environment clean. Having a properly tuned car saves fuel and pollutes less.

• Shop Rages and Uniforms: Our shop rags and uniforms are cleaned using environmentally friendly products

• Facility Maintenance: Osceola Garage does not wash its floor using any harmful chemicals. In fact, we use a solid compound to absorb all oils, grease and other liquids, which is then recycled. No contaminates ever reaches the environment or ground water.

• Windshields, Glass and Other Body Components:  All windshields, glass and nearly every body part is recycled, to be used again in the manufacturing of new vehicles and other products.

Spring Driving Tips

Seniors Take To The Road

The weather may be getting warmer and the days may be longer, but you need to be aware of a few spring driving tips.

With the mild winter we have had this year doesn’t mean that the roads are in great shape; we still need to be careful when travelling on the roads of potholes.  Beware of hitting potholes, this can throw your car’s front end out of alignment, damage tires and other steering components.

April showers may bring May flowers, but can be a hazard while driving. Slow down in the rain and leave extra room between you and the car ahead of you while driving and braking.

Excessive speeds or worn tires can cause hydroplaning, which can lead to an accident.  Even with good tires, it is better to slow down and be extra cautious in the rain.  Have your tires inspected each year, tires rotated every 8,000 miles a wheel alignment each year too. Also, have your wiper blades replaced if they are more than 2 years old.

As always, if something does not feel right with your car, please have it thoroughly checked out by your service professional.

Please plan on attending our FREE Do-it-Yourself Workship Saturday, May 19th, to find out more or to register please go to osceolagarge.com

Taking Your Vehicle Out of Storage

Things to be Aware of After Storing Your car for the Winter

Many people choose not to use their car for the winter months, and many store their car while they travel to warmer weather.  Now that the spring is here, most will want to use their car again. Here are a few things to consider before you take to the road.

First, if the battery was not maintained with a battery charger, it may not start the car and the battery may have to be charged or jumped started. Depending on how old the battery is, the battery may be depleted to a point where it needs to be replaced.

Tires normally loose pressure over time, so a pressure check of the tires should be performed. Any tire or tires that are low on pressure should be adjusted to the correct pressure before the car is driven. Driving the car with low tire pressure can result in tire damage and/or tire failure.

Before the engine is started, check all under hood fluid levels, lights, wiper blade function and all other accessories.  You don’t want to find out on the road that the wipers or signals are not working.

Have the air conditioner/heater filter inspected.  Any debris in the filter may have decomposed over time and emit a smell when the air conditioner or heater is turned on.  Plus, bacterial growth is not healthy for the occupants to breathe.

One last tip, you should set up an appointment with your service professional to have a quick safety inspection, just to make sure your car is in tip top shape and ready the road.

Please plan on attending our Do-It-Yourself Worshop on Saturday, May 19th for information and details go to www.osceolagarage.com
