Well, it looks like we made it! We braved the ice and snow, and it looks like winter may finally be over. You’re probably looking forward to warmer temperatures as much as I am. But before you think we’re out of the woods where risky driving conditions are concerned, please remember the possibility of fog as temperatures rise.
Driving in dense fog greatly reduces visibility, which means we still have to be careful out there when we’re driving. Foggy conditions mean everything from traffic signs, pedestrians, to other vehicles might not be as visible out on the road. Here are some precautionary tips to help you combat fog:
- Slow down and turn your low beam headlights on. Light from your high beams will actually bounce back off of the fog, making it harder to see.
- If your car is equipped with fog lights, turn them on too. Not sure if your car has fog lights? You can find out by checking your owner’s manual.
- In dense fog, it may also be a good idea to turn off the radio and lower the window. This will allow you to hear traffic noises and other events that are happening, that may not be visible.
- Lastly, keep your heater in defrost mode and use your wipers and washers to keep the windshield clean and clear.
Foggy conditions can make driving a challenge but, bringing your car into Osceola Garage will keep your car prepared for the weather’s best shot. Please follow the above tips and remember – Let’s be careful out there.
