Required Once a Year (State Law)
All cars registered in New York State are required to have an annual safety and emissions inspection. If your vehicle is not inspected; you may receive a fine and won’t be allowed to renew your car’s registration. New York State inspections are important to insure that all cars meet all safety requirements. During a New York State inspection, all safety related systems are inspected and tested. In addition, an exhaust emissions test is performed to insure that cars registered in New York State are not polluting and running efficiently.
