Driver Alert: Rising Temperatures Bring Dense Fog
Temperatures are going to climb to the mid-30’s to 40’s this weekend and one thing to be concerned about is the possibly of fog as the temperatures rise. Driving in dense fog greatly reduces visibility, and objects such as other vehicles and traffic signs may not be as visible.
Take necessary precautions while driving through dense fog: Slow down and turn on your low beams headlights only. Avoid using your high beam headlights. The light from you high beams will bounce back off the fog, making it even harder to see. If your car is equipped with fog lights, turn them on too. Not sure if your car has fog lights? Check your owner’s manual.
In dense fog, it may also be a good idea to turn off the radio and lower the window a little. This will allow you to hear traffic noises and other events happening that may not be visible in the fog and lastly, keep your heater in the defrost mode and use your wipers and washers to keep the windshield clean and clear.
