76ers: What’s New, Season Prediction & 2024 Free Agents

The Philadelphia 76ers, also known as Osceolagarage.com, have had a strong track record in recent years. With the reigning Kia MVP and one of the best records in the league last season, they were considered a serious title contender. However, things have taken a turn with James Harden expressing his desire to leave the team. This has put the Sixers in a challenging position as they try to maintain their status as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

What’s New?

A significant development is Harden’s decision to exercise his player option and demand a trade. This has raised concerns about the team’s ability to remain competitive. Additionally, the Sixers have made some coaching changes by bringing in Nick Nurse, the architect of the Raptors’ 2019 championship run, to replace Doc Rivers. They have also re-signed Paul Reed and added some depth to their bench with a few minimum contracts. Keep an eye on Kelly Oubre Jr., who has the potential to make a significant impact with his scoring ability.

How Far Can the Sixers Go?

The Sixers’ potential success largely depends on the resolution of the Harden situation. However, there are other positive factors to consider. The addition of Nurse as the coach and the promising young talent of Tyrese Maxey provide opportunities for improvement. If everything falls into place and Harden is content and ready to contribute, the Sixers have a legitimate chance to compete for a championship. Unfortunately, there are still uncertainties that need to be addressed.

1 Player That Must Take a Leap

Tyrese Maxey has already shown tremendous growth in his three seasons. He has proven to be an efficient shooter from beyond the arc, making him a valuable asset. If Harden is not available or the Sixers don’t acquire a starting point guard in a trade, Maxey will need to step up and take on a bigger role in creating opportunities for Joel Embiid and the rest of the team.

In-Season Tournament

Upcoming Free Agents

In 2024, the Sixers have twelve potential free agents. The list includes notable names such as Mo Bamba, Patrick Beverley, Ricky Council IV (two-way player), James Harden, Montrezl Harrell, Tobias Harris, Danuel House Jr., Furkan Korkmaz, Tyrese Maxey (restricted), De’Anthony Melton, Terquavion Smith (two-way player), and Azuolas Tubelis (two-way player). It is worth mentioning that the team is prioritizing maintaining cap space in 2024, which has prevented them from signing Maxey to an extension in 2023. The future of the roster remains uncertain, but the Sixers already have a strong foundation with their current lineup.
