Dejounte Murray Signs $120 Million Extension with the Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks have reached a four-year, $120 million extension agreement with Dejounte Murray. The 26-year-old guard, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent next year, will now remain with the Hawks until the end of the 2027-28 season. The contract also includes a player option for the final year.

The news of the extension was announced by the Atlanta Hawks on their official Twitter account. Murray expressed his gratitude and loyalty to the team, stating, “Atlanta #DM5 Been locked in from the moment y’all accepted me… Loyalty over everything.”

Murray was acquired by the Hawks in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs in June 2022. Last season, he averaged 20.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in 74 starts. Although the Hawks lost in the first round of the playoffs, they have high hopes for the future with Murray and All-Star Trae Young leading the team.

Under the guidance of head coach Quin Snyder, the Hawks are aiming to improve in the upcoming season. Snyder has made changes to his coaching staff, bringing in new faces to support the team’s development. The Hawks have also made other moves during the offseason, including reportedly trading forward John Collins and drafting Kobe Bufkin with the 15th overall pick.
