Around the NBA: All-Star Weekend 2019 Recap – The Basketball Movement

NBA All-Star Weekend is an exceptional and thrilling event in basketball. Packed with a variety of entertaining events, it is arguably the best All-Star event across major American sports. In case you missed any of the action, we have got you covered.

Rising Star Challenge

The weekend kicked off with the Rising Star Challenge, where first and second-year players battled it out on Team USA vs. Team World. Team USA emerged victoriously, led by standout performances from Trae Young, Jayson Tatum, and Kyle Kuzma. Kuzma even took home the MVP title, scoring an impressive 35 points. Ben Simmons of Team World showcased his skills with a 28/5/6 line.

All-Star Saturday Night

Saturday night was packed with excitement, featuring a range of skills competitions. The underrated Skill Competition showcased the finer skills of the game, with Jayson Tatum clinching the victory with a half-court heave. The Three Point Contest saw Joe Harris defeating stars like Seth Curry and Steph Curry in an unforgettable final round. The Dunk Contest had its fair share of misses but was highlighted by a memorable dunk by winner Hamidou Diallo, who leapfrogged over Shaquille O’Neal for an elbow-in-the-rim slam.

The 2019 NBA All-Star Game

The main event, Team Giannis vs. Team LeBron, was an incredibly enjoyable exhibition. Team Giannis showed great hustle and defense in the first half, but Team LeBron’s shooting prowess and consistency ultimately secured them the victory. Kevin Durant was named MVP, while Dirk Nowitzki, Dwyane Wade, and LeBron James added their own special touches to the game.
